Meet
Theodore (Teddy).
Young Male

Hey - I'm Theodore, but everybody calls me "Teddy," so you
can call me that too. I need a new home and I really, really
hope you might want me to come live with you! Let me tell you
everything that has already happened to me since I was born in May
2011, just a few months ago. Ya see, I was born to a breeder who
kept me outside in a kennel and so I got very excited when somebody
came and picked me out as their new puppy and paid the breeder money to
have me and then took me to my new home in Bucks County to live in a
house with a real family. I didn't get to stay there very long
though, because my new owners found out I have a special feeding issue
and they returned me to that breeder man, who then dumped me at a
shelter because he couldn't sell me and make any money. Now
everyone says I am "so darn cute" and I just don't understand what he
meant about nobody wanting me and it made me very sad for a
while. But then the shelter staff started looking after me and
they all loved me and they said they would try everything to save me
and give me a long life. They found a rescue -- German Shepherd
Rescue of Southeastern Pennsylvania - that said they would take me and
so here I am now living in a great foster home with my big GSD sister,
Reese and my foster cats and my foster mom and dad and I am pretty
happy, but I am waiting for my "Forever Home" - that's what my foster
parents call it and they said to tell you all about myself cause you
might be my new forever family.
I think I am a normal puppy -- I LOVE to play and play and play more
until everyone is exhausted. I love balls, squeaky toys, bones
and anything else that I can have fun with. Going for rides in
the car is one of my favorite things too, especially when we are going
to parks or places where I can visit with lots of people and lots and
lots of other dogs. I also love to eat, but I have to eat and
drink in a special way -- sitting up -- because I have some disorder
that I can't even say -- megaesophagus. It doesn't bother me one
bit, but my foster mom and dad told me I have an enlarged esophagus and
so I need to eat and drink sitting up (or standing up on a step stool)
or the food could get stuck and I could aspirate it and maybe get
pneumonia, which I guess is a bad thing. They feed me these
really yummy "meatballs" made from canned dog food mixed with ground
dry dog food and other good for you stuff. I eat four times a day
and then I have to stay upright for about 20 minutes after I eat to be
sure all the food slides into my tummy. I love doing this because
I get to snuggy-huggy with my foster parents and feel really loved and
my sister Reese dances around me with toys while I am waiting for my
food to slide down so that I stay entertained. After that, I rest
for about 45 minutes, and then I am good to go for more romping and fun!
I might have to be fed in a special way for all of my life, or I might
"outgrow" my mega-e a little bit when I get older, but dogs like me can
live a long and happy life if they are taken care of and fed in the
proper way. You can read more about megaesophagus by going to
this link:
www.2ndchance.info/vomiting-megaesophagus.pdf
(my foster mom helped me type this message so I hope she got the link
right!).

I live in a house with a female German
Shepherd -- Reese -- and I get
along great with her and she lets me bite her head and her feet cause
she knows I am just a little dude right now. I go to obedience
classes on Tuesday night with a bunch of other dogs, big and small, and
I just love everyone. I have met lots of new people and kids and
other dogs and I am Mr. Social -- love a good party of people to hang
out with and get lots of attention and lots of hugs and kisses!!
My foster mom and dad tell me I am a "ham" -- not sure what that means,
but I love posing for pictures and making sure everyone notices
me! There are cats at my foster house too and so far I have been
really nice to them -- we stick our noses to each other and sniff and
then they bat me on the nose and I don't know what to do, so I look
away and ignore them. Once in a while, when I see them running
across the floor, I like to chase them! My foster mom and dad
think I might be cool living with cats, but they aren't absolutely
certain yet. If you have cats, I think I will probably adjust to
having them as brothers or sisters if we get to meet slowly and all
hang out together.
So here's my best wish-list for a Forever Home -- somebody who is home
or can come home to feed me my small meals -- hopefully, I will be able
to eat fewer times a day after I am a year old; somebody with other
dogs and/or kids, cause I love them all; somebody with a nice yard for
me to run in and somebody who can afford to take care of me, since I
eat a lot of canned food and, if I ever did get pneumonia, I might need
special vet care to make me all better. Are you my new family who
will love me forever?? If you are, please call my foster mom and
dad right away so I can meet you soon. They have an e-mail
address: LM19115@aol.com or you can call our house at
215-969-4115 and leave them a message; I will be sure they call you
back!
That's my story and I am a really good boy and handsome and fun (mom
says I have lots of self-confidence!) and I want to find my forever
home soon. I have had my shots, I am heartworm negative, and I
have been neutered. I am really good in my crate and will need a
house that
will use a crate to let me rest after I eat and to sleep in at night so
I stay safe and sound. I sure hope YOU are my new family!
Love,
Teddy
